Pasting a Word doc in a Post

I pasted the Word document about Al that contained his image in a post, using the Ctrl/V keys. The text pasted fine, but the image was just gone- no muss, no fuss, just ignored. One has to click on the picture icon above that will say "Insert Image" and browse to find the image and upload it.
